Update #1

Welcome to the 2nd Fairfield County Progressive Marathon.

The start of the series, the St. Patrick’s Day Classic, is fast approaching (March 14).  I hope everyone is looking forward to it.  This is the first of what will be a number of updates.

I do want to make sure everyone is aware that series t-shirts and goody bags will not be given out until the Donnelly Dash on April 11 (mostly due to allowing late series registrations up until the second race, on April 3).  So please be patient, and do not be disappointed when they are not here for the St. Patrick’s Race.  The Progressive Marathon will have a table setup at the St. Patrick’s Classic, where you can “check in” and receive a 2010 Progressive Marathon wristband (which you can then wear during series races, to help identify yourself as a series participant).

We expect to have tables at all of the official races, except for the Bridgeport Hospital Home Run (in which case I will designate a section in the Bluefish Stadium) so participants will have a central point to meet and mingle with each other, if they so choose.

I do want to make everyone aware of a date correction for the Westport Minuteman (if you were planning on running this, please take note!): The Minuteman is going to be the first weekend of May (May 2) rather than the last weekend of April.  In order to accommodate the people who this will affect, it will be possible to run the “Time Trial” on April 25 (in addition to May 1 and 2).  Anyone who was planning to run the Time Trial on May 1 or 2 (and particularly those on May 2), AND the Minuteman as an alternate race, PLEASE let me know if you would rather run back-to-back (Time Trial on May 1, Minuteman on May 2) or the Time Trial the week before on April 25.  Anyone else, who would rather run the Time Trial the week before on April 25, is certainly welcome to as well, just let me know.

More details on how the Time Trial will work will be forthcoming, but understand that it is not an official standalone race, and will be somewhat informal.  It will be pretty much a rolling start on the given days, where you can start whenever you are ready.

I will be in touch as we get closer to the start, and throughout the series.  If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to ask.  And certainly pass the series information on to your family and friends!

I will see you all on March 14!
